Analysis and comparison of French and German poster propaganda in the first world war

English abstract The dissertation analyzes French and German poster propaganda as it was used in and shortly after the First World War. It observes the visual motives, their cultural categories and the displayed themes. By examining 500 French and 500 German posters, the goal of the work is to create a detailed analysis of their contents, usage and argumentation, with which it wants to achieve closer understanding of the contemporary propaganda used by Germany and France. The mentioned motives, categories and themes are then compared between the two nations. Through this comparison, the work strives to find out the unique (or similar) message and language of the propaganda used by each country. Design and elaboration of educational posters for manual woodworking at the 2nd grade of elementary school

The diploma thesis is focused on the creation of suitable educational aids (posters) for support and education in the field of technical education for pupils at the second stage of primary school. Posters should provide a basic insight into the issue of manual machining of technical materials, specifically the shape of wood and safety and health at work and handling of these materials. In the theoretical part, the basic description and definition one of the topic. In the practical part, three areas for the processing of educational posters are selected. One in the area of health and safety and the other two in the area of shape processing of wood.
The form and function of questions in marketing communication

This bachelor thesis deals with the "question of question" in marketing communication. It is devoted to various forms of questions and then discusses their functions. At the beginning, the basic concepts and principles of pragmatics are described. Furthermore, the thesis explains how the questions work in Czech and what are their types. A short part is devoted to the characterization of the term marketing communication. When examining marketing communication, there is both an explanation of this type of communication and how it is produced and how it works. The different types of marketing communication explained in the work are: outdoor advertising, online advertising and subsequently radio and audiovisual spots. In the practical part, the questions are first sorted according to their form, then their functions are analyzed. The aim of the thesis is to describe certain patterns that can be found in the use of questions in advertising messages. Furthermore, to describe in a concise way the difference in the use of questions between different types of advertising messages as well as between different promoted sectors.
A comparative study of British, French, and Austro-Hungarian pictorial propaganda during World war 1 in years 1914-1915

English abstract The master's thesis compares aspects of British, French, and Austro-Hungarian pictorial propaganda at the beginning of the Great War and its argumentation and influence. By comparing 100 propaganda pictures (ex. various posters, newspaper illustrations, postcards, etc.) made by each of the countries, the thesis describes various image distinctions in three areas of research: concerning the dominant motives of the posters, concerning the human values and emotions, which the posters influenced, and concerning the usage of national signs in these media. Comparative semotic analysis of selected propagandistic poster from Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and early socialist era in former Czechoslovakia

The diploma thesis focuses on the analysis of the selected protectorate and socialist propaganda posters from the forties and early fifties of the 20th century. The analyzed period ends with year 1953. This particular piece of work strives to set the whole subject in a larger theoretical framework. Furthermore the characteristic features of the given ideologies, the theory of semiotics and a brief description of the given historical period is also encompassed. Within the theory of semiotics the main inspiration is drawn from the works of Ferdinand de Saussure, Charles Sanders Peirce and Charles Morris. The most crucial source for the semiotic analysis is the book Mythology from Roland Barthes, especially its second theoretical part of Myth today, from which the methodological approach was gathered. The semiotic analysis allows one to uncover and expose the hidden meanings of texts. Ten posters were chosen in total for the analysis, five from the protectorate era and five from the late forties and early fifties. This was carried out in order to juxtapose pairs of images which portray the same motif or theme.
